Terms of Service
Last updated · July 2026
These terms govern your use of WarmStars (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you are using WarmStars on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind it.
1. What WarmStars does
WarmStars scans the public stargazers of a GitHub repository into contact records: name, company, location, public profile links, and, where one can be found, a reachable email with a source and confidence score. We process only data that GitHub already makes publicly available, plus signals derived from it.
2. Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You must be at least 16 years old and use a valid email address. We may suspend accounts that abuse the Service, attempt to circumvent rate limits, or violate these terms.
3. Acceptable use
You are the independent controller of any data you export, and you are responsible for how you contact people. Use the data you obtain through WarmStars for legitimate, relevant business-to-business outreach only, and comply with all applicable anti-spam and data-protection law, including CAN-SPAM (US), GDPR and ePrivacy/PECR (EU/UK), CASL (Canada), and the GitHub Acceptable Use Policies. Where the law requires consent before you contact someone, it is your responsibility to obtain it.
You must not: contact anyone who has opted out or been suppressed; send unlawful, deceptive, or unsolicited bulk email; state or imply that WarmStars sends your messages, or include WarmStars branding, links, or tracking in messages you send; resell raw exports as a contact database; or attempt to circumvent the limits we provide. WarmStars gives you research; it does not send email on your behalf.
4. Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. Scan quotas are described on the pricing page and in your billing settings. We may change pricing with notice before your next renewal; continued use after a change means you accept it. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for how cancellations and refunds work.
5. Data and exports
Contact records you save or export are yours to use within the bounds of section 3. You are the independent controller for any personal data you export and act on. We surface contact records only to the customer who ran the scan and do not build a shared, resellable database; where the law treats providing that data as a sale or share of personal information, we comply with the applicable requirements, including any registration they require. We honour opt-out and deletion requests as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Availability and warranties
The Service is provided “as is.” Email scanning is probabilistic: a confidence score is a signal, not a guarantee of deliverability or accuracy. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, WarmStars is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
8. Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold WarmStars harmless from any claim, loss, or liability arising from your use of the Service or exported data, or from your outreach, including any claim that your contact of a person breached anti-spam or data-protection law.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Reach us at hello@warmstars.com with any questions.
